Unity Hospital, located in Fridley, Minn. serves the northern metropolitan communities
with a full continuum of care and services and is known for its expertise in bariatrics
and obstetrical care. With 1,500 employees and 209 staffed beds, Unity provides
inpatient and outpatient services to more than 90,000 patients each year. It shares
its nearly 800-physician medical staff with Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minn.
Primary responsibility is transcribing medical reports dictated by physicians and
other healthcare providers in order to document patient care. May also include
light telephone and customer service duties when support staff are not available.
On site training is mandatory with the possibility of working from home after training
is successfully completed.
Education/Experience: Graduate of medical secretary/transcription program or completion
of equivalent courses involving a comprehensive study of medical terminology, anatomy
and physiology, and transcription and or Minimum of 3 years successful employment
as a medical transcriptionist in an acute care facility . CMT preferred. At least
2 years previous hospital transcription and/or multi-specialty clinic transcription
experience. Previous experience working with word processing programs. Digital
dictation system experience preferred. Experience with speech recognition editing
a plus.
Skills: Ability to type 70 wpm, good interpersonal skills, good customer service
skills, excellent attention to detail, ability to work independently, ability to
concentrate for long periods of time, excellent written communication skills.
0.5 FTE - Evening position, including every other weekend. Up to every other holiday.
Some flexibility in hours.
